eternal sunshine of the spotless mind?

with each hour passing, i can't help but think of the river waters rising in Brisbane and that it will peak at 4am. so many people are homeless, staying at evacuation centres, watching the news this afternoon was painful knowing such tragedy is unfolding in Australia. Imagine an entire city vacant, something like that only happens in the movies. i have been pretty disconnected with the world for a while, being in Melbourne, i'm lazy to catch the news because it happens at 6pm daily and i'm usually at the gym at that time. i only get newspapers on weekends and sometimes i only use them for the tv guide lol. will i be a happier person if i'm disconnected? i doubt so though. i will not appreciate the little things i already have if i live in a bubble. if god is around, please let the sun shine again in Queensland.
