monarch cake shop in st.kilda has been there since 1934. inside the shop, time has come to a halt as you flip magazines from 1994 and pay your bill in front of an old school cash machine, which requires great amount of force from the cashier to punch in the amount. on the walls, an unexpected surprise, albeit a pleasant one to see the faces of christopher lee and cynthia koh. looking around the room, i also caught sight of posters from raffles hotel. a great place to waste an afternoon away which strangely feels a little like home. (cakes are yummy too)
